The Nigerian army on Friday, January 1, announced that it had
uncovered plans by the Boko Haram terrorists’ member to cause mayhem in
Maiduguri and environs.
The army media coordinator, Colonel Mustapha Anka, in a statement,
said the attention of Operation LAFIYA DOLE was drawn to Boko Haram
members plan to use beggars to wreak havoc in the metropolis.
According to him, the beggars are expected to hide improvise
explosive devices in bundles of firewood and placed them in crowded and
strategic areas within the state and environs.
Anka told the general public to be vigilant of the terrorists’ plan
to deceive residents by way of shouting “Boko Haram” to create panic in
order to attract unsuspected members of the public for maximum casualty
during and after the New Year celebrations.
“The command wishes to remind the general public to be extra
vigilant during and after the New Year celebrations as the ban on
bangers and fire crackers is still in force,” he said.
Boko Haram has been a huge security issue in Nigeria despite the fact
that gallant Nigerian soldiers have been killing as many as the can,
the terrorists group had refused to relent in its bloodbath against
innocent and vulnerable citizens.
Just recently Premium Times reports that no fewer than 30 people were killed on Monday, December 28, when two female suicide bombers attacked a busy motor park in Madagali town of Adamawa state.
