The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has
reportedly arrested Harprrie Singh, Managing Director of Stallion Group
over his alleged N2.75bn gift to Bashir Yuguda, the former minister of
state for finance
The former minister was apprehended with other top officials from the
office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) over the controversial
arms procurement scandal surrounding former NSA, Sambo Dasuki.
Investigation carried out by EFCC revealed that Stallion Group paid
N1.375bn to and Jabbama Company which returned N100m of the funds to the
conglomerate.
Jabbama converted the money to United States Dollars totalling $114,750,000 and handed them over to Yuguda.
The Punch reports that Singh was questioned by the EFCC on his involvement in the arms deal scandal.
He reportedly said he had a contract of $170m with the office of the
NSA to supply the office with some vehicles and that the first batch of
50 vehicles was supplied since November 2014, the payment for which was
still outstanding.
The EFCC wants to determine if the payment Singh made was as an inducement for contracts award from Dasuki’s former office.
