Police Arrest Ekiti Speaker’s Aides For Removal Of President Goodluck Jonathan’s Campaign Posters.

Dr. Adewale Omirin Speaker of the Ekiti House of Assembly, has accused the police of arresting three of his aides on the alleged order of Governor Ayodele Fayose.  The aides were arrested for alleged removal of President Goodluck Jonathan’s
campaign posters in Aisegba-Ekiti, Omirin’s home town.  According to information provided by his media aide, Mr. Wole Olujobi, those arrested include Tope Falebita, Olalere Tunde and Bayode Kamoru.  Omirin alleged that the crackdown on his supporters was a direct fulfilment of the governor’s threat to make life difficult for him.  He said, “The security agents were in the home of Chief Dapo Awojolu, a 72-year-old political leader and my associate over alleged arson in 2013 whereas there was nothing like violence in Egbe-Ekiti home of the man in 2013.  “How is it possible for that peaceful old man to get himself in burning a house in the community where he is a prominent leader?  “This is just a continuation of assault and intimidation of my associates following similar threats to some lawmakers when some unidentified policemen visited their homes in the night banging on their doors.”  But the police spokesperson, Mr. Victor Babayemi, said the men were arrested for behaving in a manner that constituted breach of public peace by destroying posters and billboards of other politicians.  “Tension mounted in the area and we quickly moved in to save the situation. Investigation is ongoing and they will soon be charged to court,” Babayemi said.
